HYDRATION. Yes, we all know it's important. I'll save the lecture. But why is it so hard to keep up with sometimes? As a nursing mama, I know all too well that I need to stay hydrated so that I can feed my baby, and function well throughout the day (very important given that I've got a 2-year old and 4-year old running around my house as well). And yet, there is many a day when it's 2pm and I realize all I've had to drink since breakfast are a few cold sips of coffee - AGH.

If you're not in for the full read, here are the items I mention below that have helped me:

So there are a few things I've been trying lately to freshen up my hydration game, build better habits and enjoy sipping my water throughout the day.

1. First things first.

The first thing I do when I roll out of bed and my feet touch the floor is take a few sips of water. Yes, I'm definitely one of those people that keeps water next to the bed. Hello - middle of the night thirst! If you're not that person, consider heading to the kitchen and before pouring that first cup of coffee (yes, gasp), drink a small cup of room temperature water. This is going to gently wake up your stomach and set the right tone in your body for hydration throughout the day.

2. Mix it up.

Yes, I mean literally mix something up into your water! I'm not a fan of the bad ingredients in many sports / electrolyte drinks that claim big time hydration. So what can be done? My personal favorite lately is LMNT Keto Electrolyte Powder Packs (paid link). These pack a powerful punch of your magnesium, sodium and potassium to get your re-hydrated quickly. No sugar, just stevia and natural flavors (I've been liking the Citrus Salt). These handy little packs are great for on the go, and my kids also love them!

3. A little something pretty.

For a while now, I've consistently used stainless steel tumblers to drink my water. I have two that I rotate and they go with me everywhere - and I mean everywhere! But until last week I had been using the same two tumblers that I've had for about 5 years - wow. You can imagine they looked pretty beat up. For my birthday I was gifted a brand new, very lovely, Stanley Quencher H2.0 FlowState stainless steel tumbler (paid link) (in the color cream). And can I just say that having this new tumbler has given me such a motivation boost to drink my water throughout the day. Who knew, a little something pretty, can go so far for my hydration. Pro tip: I swap the hard plastic straw for my soft silicone straws (paid link) and they fit perfectly!

In summary - drink water first thing in the morning, consider a mix-in that will give more bang for your buck (and taste good), and have a little fun and pick a pretty tumbler.

I pray that in some small way, I helped you and your home, today. Let's go have a good day!
